The Dapper Man

Grey suit

I love the word ‘dapper.’ Defined by Oxford Dictionary as (of a man) neat and trim in dress and appearance.

‘The Dapper Man,’ is the first poem I wrote as an adult; the main parts of it were written in under an hour at three o’clock in the morning. This poem is dedicated to everyone who has worked for a boss or a project manager who has tried to bully you.

This tailored grey Harry Brown suit from Slaters – Mens and Formal Hire may be for the dapper man about town. Thanks for the image and I’m sure all of your clientele are lovely, caring men.

The Dapper Man, in his suit of grey                                                                                  teflon coated, always looks so trim,                                                                          proclaims in his smooth, public voice

His caring                                                                                                                                  His understanding                                                                                                                    His sharing                                                                                                                          His appreciation                                                                                                                        His gratitude

But in his private domain                                                                                                      the snake sheds his grey skin                                                                                           and the malicious slime drips from his hypocrite tongue.

Beware the Dapper Man, in his suit of grey                                                                             teflon coated – nothing sticks to him.
